Posted about 1 month ago With the increasing costs of tuition in most states and decreasing class capacity due to lack of school funding, some community colleges offering Fire Academy training with limited seating, are going as far as to raffeling vacancies to candidates in a kind of Fire Academy "Lottery". Is this fair practice and should institutions continue in its practice? |

| Posted 21 days ago If there are only 25 openings, there are only 25 openings. Many colleges utilize an alphabetical registration process (Names Starting with A through D can register at this time, etc.) All classes have a maximum capacity. When it is full, it is full; and the person has to find a different class, or class time. So if there are only 25 positions, what do you think the fairest manner of distributing those positions would be ? We could give a test. We could use HS GPA We could use first-come first-served We could run a lottery We could make sure that only people we wanted in the class got in.
