I am not saying this is being considered, but wouldn't it be nice to weed out the Myspace girls, spammers, advertisers, etc by having minimum requirements that are related to firefighting, discussions, etc? 

I would also ban self taken photos from arms length, in the mirror, etc.  !!!!!

I think most people (except the girls who do this and don't read the posts) get what I mean. 

Oh, i'm fine with firefighters, EMS, etc taking action shots, hanging from a rope, ladder, whatever. But the hoochie girls in the mirror or the self taken shots that in all honesty I think were invented from Myspace, they must go. They are very obviously trolling for firefighters. Maybe someone should start up a fire dating site somewhere for this activity. It's just annoying. If you are single, fine. Then go to a site designed for hooking up. That's all i'm saying.

Talk to gonink, he sets up websites. Though I kinda doubt he's going to be up for starting up a whorehouse for fire fighters!

I agree!  Im so tired of accepting friend requests and going to see if they have any fire pictures or EMS shots only to find 97 shots of themselves either in the mirror or by taking their own pic at arms length...It gets REAL old after the first 2 shots!!  Im all for including a few family pictures, or other interesting shots not fire/EMS/police related, but two dozen shots of your face in the mirror? Taken at the same time?  The same pose??  Enough is enough.  Put the restrictions and limits in place, I will back you up 100%, make it so they have to reply to 4 forum posts a month or share job info or start a blog...SOMETHING other than posting 123 pictures of themselves and hope they get a date.

Gonink is not the only person here that does websites. He just advertises it more. I built and run several. Many members here do as well.

I am not at all promoting or suggesting the FIRE-HO site.

I do kind of like the screening of photos, but it would prove a daily pain to do. I do have the ability to remove ones that don't belong.

I don't expect this post to go anywhere, it is just another soapbox location.

I've been say'n for a year that FireLink was become'n more like "Myspace",,,,, When I first joined it was nothing but Fire,EMS related, now it's how sexy can I look in the mirror while make'n my lips poof out like I've been suck'n on a deck gun.

To each their own, but I don't think you want to see me in a banana hammock sit'n on a LDH while take'n a pic with my cell phone at arms length.

the whole myspace/ pointwhoring thing has been bad enough.  part of why I don't post very much anymore is it seems like every post you make gets atleast 3 or four friend requests from people who youve never even talked to, who have n oposts. 



I figure its just like any other public posting site, gotta take th pros with the cons and hope you find a happy medium.

I friend request people after they post things sometimes...but because I like their point of view or think they may be interesting to talk to. This site (in my point of view) is for learning from eachother...We all know operational things differ majorly from dept. to dept, so if we don't meet new people how will we learn? It doesn't bother me at all to get friend requests from new people because everyone brings something to the table I can learn from. :) Maybe thats why people do that to you?

I cnat agree more with everyone in here. i absolutly hate looking at pics of ppl takin pics of themselves in the mirror only. I know tha tI dont have any pictures up on my profile but that is just because I dont have the time to do that. I will try to post some of my pics from combat up on here. I also would like to see more ppl posting up pictures of the Fires & MVA's that they respond to or even some good looking appuratuses. I thought that the "whore house" gals would avoid a site like this. I dont understand some girls in always takin pics of them and postin them. I think that maybe a few pics of yourself is ok but just none of them of your self in thee mirror. I believe there is already dateing websites for "uniform chasers or badge chasers)
