Hello everyone!

This will be my first post and I'm sorry to make it such a "heavy" topic but I desparately need some advice. I graduated from CSU Sacramento in 2001 with a B.S. in Fire Service Management. I came from a somewhat humble upbrining, so I joined ROTC in college to pay for college and because I wanted to serve my country. I had planned on getting back into firefighting once my time was up in the military and after 6 years in the U.S. Air Force, I applied for separation.

The problem is that since 2001, I had been having back trouble that would occasionally flare up and cause me some discomfort. So, I mentioned it on my Air Force exit exam. They put me in for X-rays and an MRI, which revealed that I have 3 degenerated discs, one of which is herniated 1mm (L4-L5). The VA gave me a disability rating of 50%

I am hoping that someone one here might be able to tell me what I should look into career-wise. I want to get back into the fire service but it's looking like the door is closed for me, as far as becoming an entry-level firefighter....

Any suggestions would be more than appreciated.

Thanks guys!!!

Just be patient, friend. Sometimes the posts are doomed by timing, i.e. it is a time where the one person on here who has knowledge in the subject isn't available to get to the computer for a while. Eventually someone with the proper knowledge will read your question.

What do you think I've been doing for the past month?

Nevermind the fact that 45 of my so called "Brothers" have read this and not even bothered to say anything at all. Not one person has offered to have their Captain or Chief talk to me. Not one person has bothered to say "sorry about your injury". NOTHING!!!

What a bunch of Prima Donnas....

Are there any other fire related forums that don't suck?
