Posted 3 months ago As most of you know, we lose too many FFer's every year to cardio pulmunary disease. author Rip Esselstyn -himself a firefighter and triathelete residding in Austin Texas- offers a fantastic diet in his book, the Engine 2 Diet. Like most of you, I cringe at the thought of a plant based diet BUT Rip does a great job showing the reader how to do it WITHOUT consuming plates of brocholli! Rip bases his diet on research he has employed with this diet and blood tests performed after 28 days of effort. Cholesterol, Triglycerides are dramaticly reduced! I struggled with a broken leg that was not repeired properly requiring more surgery. All toll, I was on crutches over a year and a half. I almost cried when one of th efive surgeons I had to see referred to me as obese. As musch as i tried not to eat much and exercise hard in PT. it still was not enough. I was fat. When I had the second surgery my pre-op physical showed that I was perfectly healthy except for high cholesterol.
You know what scares me? Guys (I'm a gal) half my age look WORSE. I was thin until my thirties , now todays youth are mcuch more "hefty".
I saw RIP on a talk show and said -that's it. First I went to his website , then I I bought the book. I've had some questions which I have emailed and he ansswered every one by personal email in a most positive way! I'm not done yet and am looking for "buddies". I fell better, and hope to look better soon. This post was unsolicited. Just my own enthusiasm! I'll have a blood test in November but hope to see some obvious results by October. If more people go plant based, we won't need health care reform! We will bring about our own reform and cost reduction!!! Be safe-everyone comes home!!! |
