Posted 4 months ago For some firefighters firefighting is a love. For others it is a duty, to either themselves, their families, or both. What is Firefighting to you? TIm |

| Posted 27 days ago For me it started as a love then became a sense of duty. I feel I have a duty to my fellow man to help them in time of emergency need to an extent and this is one way I enjoy doing that. |

| Posted 27 days ago Its really both for me now. It started as a love for the action and thrill, but now its duty too. Like jc_murphy says, "duty to my fellow man to help them time of emergency..." and I wouldn't trade it for any thing.

| Posted 26 days ago Started as a sense of community duty, (volunteering,) in light of our increasingly hot and dangerous fire seasons, but discovered that I absolutely LOVE it. |

| Posted 26 days ago For me its the love of being a fire fighter. I got started as a volunteer police officer in FL and loved that cause i was helping people in my community. Its that same love i had for law enforcement that got me to join my volunteer fire dept. in NC ( where i currently live). I love being able to help others and cant see what i do as a duty but pure love of helping others. Amy (Danbury Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department)

| Posted 25 days ago I am a volunteer who has been doing this for two years. I had several small structure fires and many training classes. We had a major country club catch fire and we were working like dogs several times through out the night I kept asking myself why am I doing this? I am not getting paid? But I volunteered to help out the department who is short handed like the others in my area. I have a full time job, run a small business, two kids and a wife and a sick mother. Do I have free time,,,,, RIGHT!!!! |

| Posted 24 days ago DEFINATELY A "LOVE" AND IT RUNS STRONG IN MY BLOOD. WHEN I HAD TO RETIRE DUE TO A BACK INJURY, I WENT THROUGH A LONG PERIOD OF DEPRESSION AND HAD TO COMPLETELY CUT ALL TIES WITH MY DEPT. LIFE IS BETTER NOW, BUT NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT I DON'T THINK ABOUT MY FIREFIGHTER CAREER THAT WAS CUT SHORT. |

| Posted 20 days ago really we need an option C both... I love being with most of the crew at my station and love working around the clock when needed. But those calls at night I feel like I am drivin by my sense of Duty to serve the town and to help where ever I can. North Baldwin 354 |

| Posted 14 days ago Fire Fighting was actually one of my greatest fears starting out. I had way too much tradgedy in my life concerning fire. 5 years into my fire career I have grown to love it. Its like conquering the past and facing my fears evey time I get to face the dragon and I do love ! For me there is nothing job about it!! |
