This product is designed to be an add on to your original siren. it drops the original siren 4 or 5 octaves lower and creates an entirely different sound, it is being marketed as a product to increase saftey for running "hot". I can tell you it is the best thing i have ever had the luck to demo, man does it move traffic espically when on the phaser setting. i would recommend it to every department, after 16 1/2 yrs i have never had traffic move like this! it has put the fun back into running "hot"

The Rumbler was created, designed, and engineered by Federal Signal. This project came about from a customer request for a siren that would work in urban areas with all of the interference that drivers hear.
Whelen came out with the Howler after the Rumbler was released. It is very similar.
Both very great, forward thinking, advancements.

I know of a local department which has their chiefs vehicles equipped with the rumbler and I have heard it many times and have been following them many times to mutual aid calls. When it was rush hour traffic, he would activate the rumbler system and traffic not only cleared the intersection we were approaching, but we could also see the following intersection at least 1/2 mile away also beginning to have traffic move from one side to another. What a great siren to have and its reliability and safety make this product a fantastic purchase for any reponder unit no matter police, fire or ems.
