My first helmet was a leather. It save my life. I will always were a New York Style

I am a long time leather head. I curentley own 4, my original non osha, 2 N5As and a N6A Houston. The newer style are heavier and do not seem to be as comfortable as the older ones. One of the biggest down falls of the leather helmet is price $400.00 plus for that you can get two polycarb helmets. Tradition and history live on by wearing leather.

The little give that the leather has is a much better absortion factor to me then the rigid hard my 1010 i wore cracked all the way from right to left along the brim. Not a very secure feeling to me.

I feel this is the safest hhelmet in the service and it has been around the longest that speaks for itself.

Leather or not Cairns bros know how to make them. i have both a 1010 with bourkes and a Sam Huston with bourkes and both are suburb I would own only leather however but my career department will not allow the leather due to the fact we don't have a dedicated HM team and when the time comes we have to wear our gear in "It would get contaminated" boo hoo! but i actually bought my leather used because i could not afford one new but if i had the money i would buy another one. The 1010 fits better and rides better and flat out looks better.

Excellent helmet, a little heavy but offers great protection

Love these helmets they are the greatest ones out there. My old helmet failed on me in a structure causing major damage to the helmet and my ears after that i switched over to this helmet. Best thing I have ever done.

All I can say is that this helmet kicks ass!

I like my leather

Our department just bought this type of helmet 2 years ago, and I love it. Little heavier than the last ones we had, but it is the best helmet there is.

This is the best helmet in my opinion once you wear one you wont wear anything else i will always be a leather head leather forever.

This is a great helmet, only downside is the weight. I wore one of these up untill my injury but now I cant wear it for too long or my neck sarts to get sore. the liner is really comfortable, the fit is easy to dial in perfectly, it interfaces with any SCBAmask very easily and confortably, no pressure on the headband or mask. Cairns is the best leather helmet manufacturer out there.

Go Leather or Go Home

I have the deluxe version of this helmet... It is by far the most comfortable and best looking leather out there. As soon as I save up more many I am getting another one for the other fire dept I am on. Leathers are the best looking and definitely the way to go.. Especially if you want to go with the traditional firefighting look!!

Great Helmet, its weighted differently than plastic helmets such as the 1010. It shows less wear, and gives you a better field of view.

I have 4 New Yorkers and I love them, yes they are heavy but my head feels so safe with it on.

i have 2 new yorkers and wouldn't wear anything else and my dept switched over to the new yorker a few years ago

Leather Forever!!!

I have owned and used a N5A for over 8 years and other than the fact that you must get used to the weight, I absolutely love it. The sense of tradition that comes with a leather helmet is nice and the helmet is a quality piece of equipment. My helmet came with the 3 dimensional eagle holder and not the one pictured here.

The cairns n5a new yorker is the best thing that i have put since i joined the fd 4 years ago. I will NEVER go back to a plastic helmet for the rest of my career

Is there any other helmet besides leather? I've had mine for at least 8 years and love it. I have an older one that I retired just because, there's nothing wrong with it and it's about 15 years old.

This design is the signature of helmet of Firefighters. Everything else looks like a suped up safety helmet.

I have two of these and I will have another one when my current one is unservicable. Leather forever.
