Love this helmet, extremely comfortable and very light weight compared to some other helmets out there. The defender shield i had to put in later, didnt come with the helmet. Very easy to install, just snap in the new inpact cap system and your ready to go. I have the mirrored lense, Its great for MVAs and then overhauls once your not on SCBA.

I own this helmet. It didn't have the option on the internal flip downs when I got it so I chose the bourkes. I love the traditional styling of the helmet. I only have two problems with it. The weight for one thing. It is a decently heavy helmet. And second would be the length of the back brim. Depending on what type of SCBA your department uses you can't look up very well.

The helmet is front heavy and the defender shield is more of a nose breaker than and asset. I do like the composition of the body as opposed to the 1010. I believe it is made of the same material as my 880.

i fell in love with this helmet when i tryed it on. very light compared to a leather but still has the leather look! i highly recommend this helmet to every firefighter.

I was issued a lesser grade helmet, but purchased the 1044 with my own $$$ from The FireStore.com because I'm not too keen when it comes to receiving head injuries. I believe that the best feature of this helmet is the impact cap, which contains both the heat insulation and impact elements. Lou

Love all of Cairns helmets, they have an excellent support and maintenance program and are always helpful. I own a 1010 right now, but may be switching to this 1044 in the future. Great helmet and great support.

I love this helmet. It's a little heavier than the 1010, but the flip down goggles are great for extrication.

1044 with defenders are awsome excelent for extrication. My 3rd 1044 and still happy.

i love this helmet. mine has the defenders and clasic flipdowns. Its perfect for anything from structures to extrication. great helmet and would def. recomend it.
