This Particular Sthil saw is an essential tool in line construction and felling that is required in wild land firefighting. I personally have used this saw for two seasons now and it never lets me down and I can always get the job done and fast while using it. I have also used other sthil saws such as the 441 but they all seem to be toys compared to the 440. If you are looking for a good saw for felling or for line construction that wont let you down when you need to do some serious work then this saw is perfect. I will never own any other saw.

Great tool, two or three pulls with the choke on then turn the choke off and it will fire up on the next pull guarantee. Plenty of power.

This is a GREAT saw every truck company should have at least one. I have one at home that I use for falling trees and woodcutting and I have no complaints. Its light enough to carry for long periods and starts very easy. It matches up pretty nice to my 046-Magnum as well even though the 046 is heavier. Very impressed with this and wouldn't have it any other way.

I have been around alot of chainsaws having worked for and owning a tree service, and none have been able to match a Sthil. I own a o38, o28, o19, and a t20 if there was a better saw out there I would own it. Remember you get what you pay for, I paid 800.00 for my O38 and I have had it for over 15 years and have had no problems.

Nice saw, great design. They now make it with the depth guage for cutting vent holes without taking out rafters. It is easy to remove for when you need the whole bar.

Reliable German beast! It is still not too heavy but a massive power to do the job fast if you need to. The Stihl 460 BTW is the official German rescue saw with a special sword and chain, for cutting car roofs and all kinds of sheet metal. It is also the official Stihl timber sport model!

As a former Landing Chaser on a logging outfit I have only good things to say about Stihl Chainsaws. They are one of the most reliable saws you can get. I still own my old 032AV and it runs like a dream.

Sthil makes the best saws on the market. I prefer the 460 over the 440, you really can't go wrong with either one. There easy to beef up with a large assortment of aftermarket products, easy to fix in the field, not like those crappy Huskey's with the clutch to the outside.

The Stihl MS440 is one of the best saws in the world, and the MaxFlow air filter system makes it even better. Their oiled foam air filter traps more of the type of burnt dirt and ashes that is so tough on a saw, and it flows more than twice the air of a stock filter. See why Hotshot crews have been putting the MaxFlow filter on this saw for more than 15 years. www.equiteemfg.com
