We just studied Haz Mat Ops in our Firefighter 1 class. This book is easy to use and I give an A+.

Have used this several time and it is handy for the initial stages of mitigation. I suggest learning how to properly use this very handy guide.

Extremely easy to use--print large enough for us "older" volunteers. Just got notice from our EMA that the 2008 books are finally here!!!

Good lay out and use of color coded pages. It helps with the new people to go through the book. The pictures of the trailors needs to larger and up dated.

I would have to say the 2008 is a better book. They both work, but 2008 has some more recent stuff in it.

How many of you actually have the 2008 book, where did you get it, and what is different about it? I have one, but was told they wouldn't be available to the general FF public until October. Looking at it online does not count.

I carry it in my POV as well as on every one of our apparatus.
If you don't know how to use this book, get someone to teach you! It could very well save your life! It guides you through the first 10-30 minutes of an incident dealing with transportation vehicles.

Very informative. If you have an iPhone, download an app called HazMat. It's the up-to-date ERG, and it makes looking up stuff VERY fast. (Via the 4 digit code.)

As the Assistant Director of our County HAZMAT Team, I carry one of these along with a NIOSH book in my personal vehicle. Every truck in our department carries a ERG. This is a good book for quick identification on first arrival on scene. It is also carried in every police or sheriff's car in our county as well.
