| Description: | Peltor TAC-6-S electronic earmuffs effectively perceive and localize weak sounds. This electronic headset immediately attenuates inpulse noise. Small and compact, it fits in your pocket when folded. Dual volume control. Lightweight - only 8.8 oz. The TAC-6-S amplifies low level sounds to 20 dB and limits amplified sounds to 82 dB. Uses 4 AAA batteries. Ideal for hunters and shooters. Also cool for listening to office gossip from down the hall...there are several manufacturers who make these, and for a little extra, you can get individual volume control for each ear, if you've lost some hearing in one or the other. Some also come with AM/FM, so the hole watch person can get REALLY distracted & not do their job. Oh, well, life in the real world, eh? |

As a safety instructor, there's nothing more important on a job in the real world than COMMUNICATION!!! Like the 3rd Indiana Jones movie..."Go in there, are you crazy?" "No, I said NOT to go in there!" (OK, paraphrased a bit) but in a noisy environment with a respirator and earplugs on, miscommunication can be deadly. Dräger makes a fullface mask with a built-in little microphone like the kids at McDonald's wear, with a little earpiece, and a little speaker on the outside, so you can talk to the people next to you and the OSC/IC back at the job trailer without using up one of your hands to hold the walkie-talkie and having to shout through the mask. The technology is there, people, it just boils down to the budget. Headphones like these are just ultimately cool, so I give 'em 5 stars, no matter who makes them.

These are cool. I have a pair that have AM/FM only because I use mine on the Portable Woodmizer saw mill. Keeps your ears very well protected, small, will fit into my pocket, and as a matter of fact......... also good for keeping the horrendous black flies & mosquito's from buzzing & biting your ears as well. They are really well worth the money.

I have these for the range. The only bad thing I can say is they will go through battery's if used alot. However you can hear a pin drop while wearing them.
