| Description: | The pulaski is a special hand tool used in wildland firefighting. The tool combines an axe and a mattock in one head, similar to that of the cutter mattock, with a rigid handle of wood, plastic, or fiberglass. The pulaski is considered one of the most versatile tools for constructing firebreaks as it can be used to both dig soil and chop wood. It is also well adapted for trail construction, gardening and other outdoor work. As a gardening or excavation tool, it is quite adept at digging holes in root-bound or hard soil. As a result, it can often be purchased in a retail setting. |

As a wildland firefighter I had to write a review praising the Pulaski Axe. There isn't a crew that doesn't have a handful of these.

Every "grass unit" should have one of these diverse tools. They really tear up the ground.

When I used this tool in Wildland firefighting, I've found that it is very versatile - I can fall a tree and dig line all in the same tool. I've also used this tool to help out in trail maintenace projects - This is a great tool to have! Every Fire, Grade and Trail crew should have this tool in thier CCV's!

Versatile and fairly light weight. My first choice for a line tool. Whether its small brush or scraping down to mineral soil the Pulaskie gets it done.

This is my tool of choice when working a wildfire. I liked it so much I bought one for my Personal vehicle for those times when your first on scene or come across something and your on your own.

Built in 1911 after the great 1910 fires. However the FS didn't pick it up until 1920. What a great tool for constructing fireline! I prefer this over a combi because I can hike with the pulaski for miles, whereas the combi gets way too awkward. Also, the pulaski has a thicker axe head and you can hit the soil and roots harder.

One of the greatest tools ever made for wildland firefighting! This is an all around tool and one of the first to be past out to the crew at a fire. I have many, many hours spent with this tool!
