The vehicle in general is alright, but we made the mistake of getting Stainless valves, as opposed to brass ones. They have been nothing but trouble. They are very stiff, leak all the time, and have to have a rebuild kit almost annually. We added a deck cannon to it, and it works great, but added to the leak list. All trouble seems to be in the valves or drain tubes. The truck is light on power for our hilly terrain, and could have more clearance for the front & rear bumpers. We have a front lay in the bumper. It is adequate for equipment and seats 5. Lesson learned: Always go with brass valves.

We now have a new Sutphen Custom Pumper and LOVE IT! Sutphens service is second to none, we were treated like we were buying several engines and a couple ladders. Our engine is 100% Akron Brass (as is everything in our house) and we have had zero problems with it. I would recomend Sutphen and Akron brass to anyone.

our dept. already owns three sutphens and we will be getting a brand new engine from them. If they made tankers then our new tanker would have been a sutphen. In my opinion sutphens are the best.

We just got our first sithphen last year, a rescue engine. It a really nice piece with only a few problems that sutphen has fixed right away. If all their pieces are as good as that then they are amazing

We just took delivery in Feb. of a 2010 Sutphen Engine. We love this truck. We were able to have our hosebed customized to fit our needs, The equipment mounting is great. Our only issue is with the mirrors. Not fond of the mirrors, but they get the job done.
