I give this a four star rating for the fiberglass handle. They don't break too much but they don't hold up to as much high pressure like a wooden handle does. Otherwise a five star rating because what station would be a fire station without a pick head fire axe.

The ones we have are half and half depending on the truck with the fiberglass handles and the solid hickory handles. But both work very well.

I love my axe.... But being tiny sometimes hinders things. So I actually cut-off3" of the hickory handle end. It just makes it earier for me to handle.

still have mine with the solid hickory handle, as well as my double blade. the pick head has served me well in the field i'm in now, when it comes to demolition during remodeling work.
