I've been looking at these in several catalogs and online sites. I haven't used one and not sure I completely understand them. Are they designed to pay the fire hose out as your walking? Or are they just to carry the hose?

Great pack. Can fit up to 300 feet of 1 1/2 inch and is very conformtable. Greta piece of equipment!
