Firefighter Reinstated After US Flag Dispute
Philadelphia Inquirer via YellowBrix
October 20, 2009
CHESTER, Pa. – A suburban Philadelphia firefighter who was suspended over a flag decal on his locker will be returning to work.
Jim Krapf was reinstated on Monday after the Chester fire commissioner granted an exception to a ban on locker decorations. U.S. flags are now allowed.
Commissioner James Johnson had instituted the ban in August after a controversy over a racially tinged cartoon that was posted on a locker.
Krapf was suspended without pay last week for refusing to remove his flag sticker.
About 40 people demonstrated at the fire station Monday in support of Krapf. The 31-year-old firefighter will return to work Thursday.

Great Job Krapf! Honestly this is something that never should of Happened what kind of Commissioner would even ask a proud american firefighter to remove a flag from a locker? But i must say thank you to Krapf for standing up and still giving my dept a reason to keep our flags attached to our Trucks!

I was reasonably certain that common sense would prevail.
