Philadelphia is jam packed with free things to do, especially in the summer. The 2009 PECO Energy Multicultural Festival season features 12 festivals occurring on weekends throughout the summer. Dance salsa on the Delaware River and eat authentic dishes from the Caribbean, Ireland and Mexico. Head to the heart of Philadelphia and get free tickets for touring both Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.
Head to Philadelphia’s Art Museum for the best photo opp in the city right beside a statue of Rocky, fictional character of the Rocky movies. While you’re there, enjoy the view from the steps of the museum and you might even catch a team rowing down the river. If you want to grab a cheap but delicious bite to eat, head to Philadelphia’s Italian Market, one of the largest open-air markets in the U.S. And you can’t leave Philly without tasting a cheese steak! Two of the most famous purveyors, Pat’s and Geno’s, are located right in the Italian Market.
