SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) – Police say they have identified at least two people suspected of jumping out of a van and beat two visiting Canadian firefighters outside an upstate New York bar.

Police in Saratoga Springs say the two firefighters from Ontario were talking to two women in a minivan stopped at a downtown intersection outside an Irish pub early Saturday morning when at least two men jumped out of the van and assaulted the Canadians, who were in the city for a fallen firefighter convention.

Police say 1 of the firefighters suffered several cuts to his head and had to be taken to Saratoga Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Authorities say police found the found the van later Saturday in the neighboring town of Wilton.

Police aren’t releasing any names and no one has been charged.
