Good Samaritan Warns Deaf Family About Fire
Associated Press
December 07, 2010
INDIANAPOLIS — Authorities say a man alerted a family that included three deaf people about a fire in the attic of their Indianapolis home.
Fire Capt. Rita Burris says the fire was reported just after midnight Tuesday and that all four residents safely escaped. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in about 15 minutes despite the closest fire hydrant being frozen.
Burris says the only hearing person living at the home was awakened by the knocking of the man who spotted the fire. But the man left the scene on the city’s west side without anyone finding out his name.
