BREVARD COUNTY, FL – Brevard County Fire-Rescue has boosted its force with the swearing-in of 37 new firefighters.
Firefighters received their badges and were sworn in during a ceremony at the Brevard County Government Center Commission Chambers in Viera.
Each new firefighter successfully completed an 8-week orientation class where they were evaluated with both written and hands-on evaluation to ensure proficiency and skill advancement. Each member has been released to full duty and will begin a 9-month probationary period.
The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Interim Training Chief Geanine Dotson and attended by families and co-workers of the new firefighters. Fire Chief Larry Collins welcomed the honorees and invited them to come before the assembly and to receive their helmet and badge. Family members were given the opportunity to come forward and pin the badge on their loved ones.
Once the badges were in place, Collins administered the Brevard County Fire Rescue Oath of Office, making each recruit an official member of the department.
