HOUSTON – A female Houston firefighter who filed a lawsuit against the City of Houston in April has been released from Harris County jail after posting bond following her arrest.
Jane Draycott, 41, was charged with misdemeanor theft on Monday.
Draycott is accused of taking a DVD player owned by another man, Jesus Valdez, according to the probable cause document in the case against her.
After Draycott was booked into the jail, she posted $500 bond and left the jail early Tuesday morning.
In April, the lawsuit filed by Draycott said she was a victim of racist and sexist graffiti during the summer of 2009 at Houston Station 54.
In the lawsuit, Draycott alleged discrimination, harassment, and protection under the whistle blower act.
An investigation by the Houston Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations led to a dead-end in finding the person responsible. During that investigation, Draycott provided handwriting samples.
In March, city investigators announced they may not ever be able to find who was responsible for the words scrawled on the walls after the nine-month-long probe.
