FL Firefighter Killed by Lightening Strike

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – A longtime Broward County firefighter has died after lightning struck him as he rode his motorcycle on a Colorado highway, on his way to a fallen firefighter memorial, a firefighter union leader said Wednesday.

William “Bill” Carr, a driver-engineer for Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue based in Weston, died Tuesday night at a Denver hospital, where he had been since the weekend lightning strike, according to Walter Dix, president of the union that represents Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.

Carr, 53, of Pompano Beach, served as vice president of the union, Broward County Professional Firefighters Local 4321.
