TULSA – A paramedic had to be taken to the hospital herself after being hit by a Jeep while responding to an accident near 51st and Harvard.

It happened early Friday morning. It started with an accident in the intersection in which the driver of a car t-boned a minivan. While investigators were attempting to move the car and minivan out of the roadway, the responding ambulance backed into another minivan.

As crews were taking care of that incident, one of the EMSA paramedics began walking back toward the original accident site, but when she stepped off the curb, she was struck by a Jeep.

Investigators say it appears a truck had blocked the view of both the paramedic and the Jeep’s driver, so neither one saw the other.

The paramedic was taken to the hospital, but is expected to fully recover.
