CAMBRIDGESHIRE, UK – A firefighter is in a stable condition in hospital after being injured while attending an incident in Cambridgeshire earlier.
More than 30 firefighters were called to Eco Aegis Services Ltd plastics yard in Hook Lane, Wimblington.
It involved about 50 tonnes of plastic and spread to a heavy goods vehicle. It was extinguished by about 1320 GMT.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said a firefighter suffered concussion and bruising.
He was taken to Peterborough District Hospital.
The fire service said crews managed to prevent the fire spreading to Eco Aegis’s buildings.
Keep windows closed
In a statement released at 1120 GMT, a fire service spokeswoman said: "There is a plume of smoke coming from the fire.
“It is not heading towards the March area at the moment.
“We would advise any residents who are being affected by the fire in the local area to keep windows and doors closed and to stay out of the smoke.
“This is a precautionary measure, but if they are feeling any ill affects they should call NHS Direct.”
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
