BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — Fire policeman Donald G. Mellott, 62, was killed Friday while directing foot traffic around an accident scene. He was struck by a car which drove through a coned-off area, state police at Lamar said.

Mellott was killed in the crash which happened at 1:37pm in Bald Eagle Township, Clinton County.

Investigators say Mellott was struck by a 2005 Subaru Impreza driven by Harold Moore Jr., 72.

Mellott was taken to Lock Haven Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He was an “excellent man to be with. He worked well,” said Woolrich Volunteer Fire Company Chief Brandon Coleman.
