About Me
I got my start in the Fire Service in September of 2003, In the Jeanerette Fire Department, but it was not long before I was called to duty with the guard unit I was in. In May of 04 I was ordered to go on a 18 month deployment to Baghdad, Iraq where I drove a Bradly Infantry Fighting Vehicle. When I returned in September of 05 I returned to Jeanerette til December of 05.Lets just say the Department was going threw changes, and besides the opportunities to become a knowledgeable and Certified firefighter was limited, I then took some time off, I guess to look at what the future may have in store for me. At that time I didn't really look to go back into any Department.....Ever, I spent 11 months, doing nothing fire related. But in October of 06 a fellow firefighter that I was in Jeanerette with, and had also decided to leave. Had started working for The Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana in Fire Protection. He said that i should get back in to it,and that they had a Volunteer Division,and the opportunities to train and to gain Certifications were unlimited. I was hesitant at first, but the more we talked about some of the times and fun we had in Jeanerette the more I wanted to come back so, in November of 06 I once again found myself in a department.Then in July there was opening for a full time firefighter. So I applied for it and got it. In May of 08 I joined The Lydia Volunteer Fire Department. Right now we are rebuilding the Department back, after it was almost non-existent.
