Looking for +/-40 hour Basic Fire Fighter Course Syllabus
I’m the Training Officer for the newly established Nutrioso Fire District in Eastern Arizona. Our Charter Membership consists of 10 personnel and we have completed Wildland Fire Training and the Wilderness Medical Associates First Aid course. I am looking to provide a short course for basic structural firefighting as a precursor to the Fire Fighter I & II Course to be offered at a later time. In an effort to save time and avoid reinventing the wheel, I’d appreciate it if someone could provide a course outline or syllabus for a short course (approx. 40 hrs) in Basic Structural Firefighting. Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated and acknowledge in the course presentation.

The Wallow Fire has completely surrounded us. The fledgeling Nutrioso Fire Dept, a 5 member crew and hundreds of fire fighters from throughout the entire United States, managed to save more than 300 homes from this massive beast. We lost only 9 structures and suffered no serious injuries. Thank You to all who are helping us. The worst is over for us but we still have a lot of mop-up to do. Our crew was only out of Wildland Fire Fighter training three weeks when the fire surrounded our beautiful valley hamlet. We are truly grateful to all who are working with us.

The historic Greer Lodge in Greer AZ was destroyed by an early morning fire today. No injuries have been reported but lack of water and high winds made it impossible to effectively fight the blaze. The Lodge at the end of AZ Rte 373, the "highway to Nowhere" was a popular destination for many tourists vacationing in the White Mountains.
