wow...that story is ludicrously funny! i have a similar one: i was at Bragg for 14 months for SF Q course (obviously I didn't make it--was kicked out at the end of Phase II), but there was a guy who got an SF tattoo. i'm pretty sure he never made it through, lol!
funny you should mention Air Force. they definitely have it better. i wouldn't trade my time and experiences in the army for anything (even though it's sucked bad!), but air force would've been the way to go. i still play around with the idea of trying out for pararescue, though i just don't think i can handle moving around anymore. i want to settle down in one place--get a job where i'm home every night (or every other night...paramedic, police, etc.)
you're totally right: all the intra and inter-service rivalry is stupid. we all salute the same flag. good-natured competition and rivalry is never a bad thing. but some people just go too far. allways cracks me up what people write on the porta-john walls...trying to insult opposing units and all. so childish. especially when people write stuff like "POGs suck." well, apparently that person never took the time to think where his food came from or his uniforms or his bullets. everyone is needed; some people can't get that into their heads. take care.
Crazy weather. About a month ago, I thought Noah must be building another Ark. Then last friday a tornado missed our home by two blocks, did a lot of damage in the neighborhood behind me, knocked out power for 139000 homes, now today reached 101 deg. Wouldn't be surprised if it snowed next week!!
hey. no, i'm not a medic. infantry (11B2P). i know traditionally we're supposed to hate each other (MP vs. Infantry), but it's cool. besides, i'm only 8-9 months away from being a civilian! (stoplossed right now)
