Combination nozzles: I do prefer combination nozzles. Some say that the smooth bore has a more penetrating stream, but in tests that we did in North Carolina, at 100psi, the smooth bore flowed at 54mph. However the combination (in straight stream) left the nozzle at 75mph. On a smooth bore, if you want to change the flow rate, you must change the tip. And most importantly, it cannot create a fog pattern, if you get your ass in trouble.
I like the nozzle to be versatile -- and the fact that you can quickly change to a fog pattern is biggest selling point for me. I have a powerpoint presentation that I did, if you'd like me to email it to you.
