I got into it due to being a "family tradition". I started after I got out of high school as a volunteer firefighter, getting my EMT-B, (and after 15 years) finally getting my Medic. I did take some fire classes in college, have taken a lot of training with the University of MO Fire and Rescue Training Institute. I do this as a volunteer because I still enjoy it. I would recommend possibly doing some as a volunteer.
