The Doubleday Fire burning in dense forest 2 miles south of Butte Falls is now approximately 600 acres. Four helicopters, three airtankers, six dozers and engines and crews from throughout Jackson County built fireline along the fire's flanks, and poured water and retardant onto flames. Last night, crews continued fireline construction and cooling the fire's edge. Command of the Doubleday Fire has been turned over to ODF’s Incident Management Team 2, this will enable Southwest Oregon District engine crews to focus on mopping up the remaining fires and be available for initial attack should new fires break out.
Prayers for my family! We need it! We have 80 acres of the most beautiful wilderness very close to this fire.
