Thanks for info! I've been wondering about how other services compare in this way. I think I might look into the military as well. From what I understand, California has comparable fires to us... have you gone there? I think most of the FFs who travel internationally are logistics types- is that right?

Thanks for the add/invite! ;) You look like a busy guy! So you are both a police officer and FF? Do most emergency services allow part time work that you know of, or is it because both roles are in emergency services that you are allowed to do it? Here, the police can work part-time, but not at entry level, and only under certain conditions. Also, the Metro Fire Brigade, which are all career FFs, won't allow part time arrangements at all at the moment! This has been really unfortunate for female FFs who want to come back part time after having children. If they want to come back part time, they have to go into a non-operational role, which is a bit unfair...
