- About Me
- I am a retired member of the Denver Fire Department. Currently a filmmaker. My mission is to create firefighting movies that represent the reality of the fire service. I just finished a 90 minute documentary about the fire academy experience, called: "Ricky's Rib Shack, a Firefighter's Journey" Please check it out at: www.rickysribshack.com.
This films is about 24 recruits and their experience in a grueling 5-month fire academy. Being a firefighter I was able to get unrestricted access to all aspects of their training. Even in the thousand degree heat of the burn building. In fact, we found ourselves in the middle of the action so many times that our cameras and equipment suffered damage from heat, smoke, water, flying tools, and firefighter's bodies slamming against us. (No, its not that kind of kinky stuff your thinking of.) Anyway, we shot over 140 hours of raw footage. Only 1% of it made it on the film.
If you're thinking about a career in the fire service you really should see this film, it's an eye opener. If you're a firefighter and you've wanted your family and friends to experience the reality of your job, this is the one.
But more than anything, this movie was created to show the public the intensity and dedication of the firefighters and the reality of the firefighters job inside the structure fire. If you would like to use this film to show at public events, please contact me directly at rhb@firewerxfilms.com
Thank you, and be safe out there.
