Thanks for the invite. I am a volunteer firefighter with Truxton Fire Department, and paid on call wildland firefighter warden with NYSDEC. I am also President of Cortland County Volunteer Emergency Search Team and Truxton Fire District Commssioner. The Truck picture for me is 1952 Brockway Fire Truck which is still in service for support assigments. My best duty is helping new firefighter learn the ropes and get to training, a little push sometimes. Its takes 120 hours of training and passing muster of in-house trainer, to be front line firefighter in New York State.

Hi Chris
My name is David Perlaza, I am from Mesa, AZ by way of New Jersey. I happily married to wife Jenny and a proud parent of my daughter Ahnalie. We are also expecting another bundle of joy come October is this year. I have decided to make a career change to better myself and my family. I am looking for something rewarding, challenging, and satisfying. I can’t think of a career that exemplifies these attributes more than becoming a firefighter. I am very excited about this change, I know it will be hard but I am very determined to reaching my goal of join and fire academy. I have enrolled into school and will be taking my EMT class in the fall. I plan on doing as much reading and volunteering as possible until then. Please let me know if you have any advice or tips that may help me along my journey. Thank you in advance for everyone’s help and support.

sup man. My name is kyle... and like everyone else on here, I just wanted to know if you have any personal advice on becoming a fire fighter. I'm 20, and I am extremely interested in becoming one. I have a girlfriend, and a daughter to take care of.... and I believe that this would be the right route for me to go since I talk about it all the time.
