About Me
Why did I want to be a Volunteer Firefighter? Well, there are many reasons why I wanted to pursue this dream. One main reason that I can clearly remember the night our appartment was on fire and a firefighter carried me out from my bedroom as I was sleeping. I was 3 years old at the time, it was a very cold winter night with temperature of -30 F. or -18 C. I remember him carrying me outside in my pyjamas and as he walked towards the front of the house I felt myself peeing into my pj's and on him due to the cold temperatures.I never forgot that night and at that age I didn't know what was going on. Other reasons are; having the training, the skills, and working as a team to react quickly in stressful and hazardous situations. Knowing that my neighbours, my community, or total strangers can count on you in times of distress, leaves you with a gratifying and rewarding feeling deep inside you. Often I would be asked this question and if talking about my experiences as a volunteer firefighter encourages someone else then that alone would be worth the time and effort to tell your story. One of my hobbies is playing guitar. I'm in the learning stage of it but it takes away a lot of the stress and pressure. I also enjoy listening to someone else play a musical instrument. I enjoy the outdoors, going for walks, camping, ice skating, ice fishing. I'm somewhat of a history buff, WWI, WWII, Korean War, etc... Documentaries, History Channel, and watching old classic firefighter video clips. I enjoy meeting people, making new friends, exchanging experiences and ideas relating to firefighting. Telling jokes, teasing others, laughing, smiling and especially being considerate to people in general.
