Recently I've decided to follow my Father's footsteps and become a firefighter. I have a bachelors degree in Business management and I served in the Air Force for 4 years. I need to know what steps I should take to begin the process.

I am currently waiting for the volunteer test date for the Burien/Normandy Park, King county Fire District. While I'm waiting I will be working towards getting my GED. Are there any suggestions for other things i could be doing to increase my chances of getting into or succeding in the volunteer program? Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'd have to say that step one is a must. Because in most of the beginning fire classes I have taken that is touche on quite a bit is knowing where the history of the fire service lies.
